Battle Los Angeles....need, want!!

Battle: Los Angeles (also known as World Invasion: Battle LA outside the U.S.) is an upcoming 2011 science fiction film directed by Jonathan Liebesman, and starring Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena, Ne-Yo, and Bridget Moynahan. The film's premise is inspired by the 1942 Battle of Los Angeles incident (sometimes called the "Great Los Angeles Air Raid of 1942") in which a presumed enemy attack, later deemed a "false alarm," led to an hour-long anti-aircraft artillery bombardment over the city of Los Angeles. The film is set in modern day Los Angeles and follows a platoon of Marines and Airmen during a global alien invasion.

This film just keeps on niggling me. Every now and then I get so excited about a film I cant stop thinking about it. I watch any and all trailers I can find, download wallpapers for it. Subscribe to RSS feed. I talk about it with the family all the time. This film Battle: Los Angeles is one of them. Its not out til March so its going to be a long couple of month sleeplessly waiting.

In my opinion its going to be one of those films you didnt see coming and then BOOM smashes box office targets. It has a great cast Michelle Rodriguez, Aaron Eckhart and Michael Pena to name a few.

So up my street that I almost live in it!!

So join me in the love for all things B:LA its going to be AWESOME!!

(obviously I am going to look very silly if it is plop!)

Promethius rise out of the ashes of Alien Prequel...

After months of rumour, speculation, whispers, sort-of news and denials aplenty, 20th Century Fox has finally come out and announced via Twitter that Ridley Scott’s next stab at science fiction will be called Prometheus and that Noomi Rapace has signed on to star.

This is the point where you raise your eyebrows and wonder what happened to the long-gestating Alien prequel. Turns out, this is what that film evolved into. After a lot of development, Scott has decided to move away from the history of the Xenomorphs and make something original.

Talking with Deadline, Scott puts some flesh on those Twitter news bones: “While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn't be more pleased to have found the singular tale I'd been searching for, and finally return to this genre that's so close to my heart.”

With Scott as the original driving force, Jon Spaihts wrote the first draft of the script, which he then worked on with former Lost show runner Damon Lindelof with the instruction to fire it off into brand new territory. "In a world flooded with prequels, sequels and reboots, I was incredibly struck by just how original Ridley's vision was for this movie,” says Lindelof. “It's daring, visceral and hopefully, the last thing anyone expects. When I sat in a movie theatre as a kid, feet raised off the floor for fear that something might grab my ankles, I never dreamed in my wildest imagination I would one day get to collaborate with the man responsible for it. Working alongside him has been nothing short of a dream come true."

Rapace, meanwhile, has long been a favourite of Scott, who was impressed by her work in the original version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She’ll play scientist Elizabeth Shaw, one of five main roles, with the other still to be cast. Deadline’s report mentions Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron in consideration for the other big female role, named Vickers. Neither is a real surprise – Theron’s name has been bandied about before and Jolie is offered pretty much everything.

And here’s the kicker – Fox has also announced that the film will arrive on March 9, 2012. This thing is finally real, people. Even if it’s something very different now. Anyone wondering if we'll still get to see the origin of Alien's Space Jockey?

Gutted to be honest. I was really looking forward to a direct prequel and another outing of the ALIEN franchise. But the shining light for me is Noomi Rapace. She was excellent in Dragon tattoo. And while the next 2 flicks didnt do it for me as much she still has a special place in my Actress rankings. If you are not familiar with her work please check her out.

CAST
As any who know me personally, I dont do horror!! I got this film because of M. Night Shyamalan. I love his films. Well his early ones. I still get goose bumps from thinking about "The Sixth Sense". So I bought it from USA because of him. I know it isnt ever a good thing to do but this time I was pretty pleasantly surprised.

I settled down to be shocked and up half the night, I even grabbed my "scaredy" pillow and pressed play.

After the initial vertigo creating title sequence and long sweeping foyer shot where we are introduced to the characters we get straight into the action. When I say action, I mean is it him? is it her? type thing.

Kept myself and the wife guessing all the way through. Each character is as flawed and evil as the next so could be anyone.

The set ups are nice. Not enough to bring the scarey pillow up to my face but enough to make me half close my eyes in anticipation.

To be honest I found myself questioning who it was all the way through. Even though at the end it turns out my gut instinct was correct...I ROCK, thanks Sam and Dean (supernatural 6 season veteran).

All in al a good effort. I enjoyed watching it and actually has a nice message in the subtext. And props for differnet ways to kill and be killed in a lift!!

8/10 from me.

First Post......

Hello and welcome. Thanks so much for stopping by my little space of the interweb.

Pull up a chair. Its warm and comfy here.

I am a little lost if I am honest. I have never "blogged" or written before (as you can probably tell), but, I have always read blogs and things like it and felt jealous that I have never had the guts to start my own.

Well, here it is. My very own section!!

What I plan to do here is to talk about general Home cinema kit. Things I desire. Projects I am working on and films I have seen. Hopefully give you an insight into what to watch and what not to watch, also what kit is good and what to avoid.

I am no "guru". I am just a normal guy with an extreme passion for all things Home cinema.

The reason for this has mainly been having children. What does he mean I hear you ask. Well since my lovely wife and I had kids we simply couldnt go out as much and became more into entertaining ourselves (keep it clean at the back). So we took our love for Cinema and brought it home.

I am lucky that now I have a very modest set up. Best I could afford at the time. And we watch around 3-5 films a week on it.

My Kit list is as follows -

Epson TW-680 720p Projector
92" Screen
ONKYO 605 Amp
Celestion F1 5.1
Paradigm Sub

Not the best you can get but to be honest it sounds and looks lovely. Upgrades are inevitable, just dont let the projector hear me say it!!

Thats it really. Thanks again for popping by. I hope I can provide you with some interest as time goes by.
